Data privacy and security

What data I collect
I collect the minimum necessary: your name and email address, assignment text you submit for analysis, your saved assignments and analysis results, and basic usage metadata.
I do not collect student names, student work, grades, or any personally identifiable student information.
How assignment text is processed
When you submit an assignment for analysis, the text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API. This is the AI that powers SocratesIQ.
Anthropic's API processes your text to generate the analysis and then the text is discarded. It is not stored by Anthropic for training purposes under my API agreement. Your assignment text is never sold or shared with third parties.
FERPA compliance
SocratesIQ is designed for teacher use, not student use. Teachers should not submit student-identifying information as part of assignment text.
District plan subscribers receive a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) that satisfies FERPA requirements. Contact me at hello@socratesiq.com to request a DPA.
Google Drive & Docs
When you use the Google Drive features, I request the narrowest permission Google offers (per-file access): SocratesIQ can only read files you explicitly pick in the Google file window, and can create new Google Docs when you export.
I cannot see, list, or search the rest of your Drive. Your Google sign-in token stays in your browser for the session and is never sent to my servers, logged, or stored in my database.
Data retention & deletion
You can delete your saved assignments at any time from the Library.
To delete your account and all associated data, email hello@socratesiq.com. I will process deletion requests within 14 days.
